Week 1 Pt 1

i) What is Imagination/Creativity? (Please provide your own definition, write down as much as you know about these terms. How do they relate to design? Has your conception of creativity changed since coming into SD?

Imagination is something that you visualize in your mind, which is often drawn out into ideas. They are essential and are a part of people as we would dream and we would imagine how things will be even before it happens. Imagination makes us think and it also gives ideas.

Creativity is what you create out of nothing or something new. It can also become a trend of it may also be an idea out of a product.

No, my conception of creativity has not changed as creativity is not something restricted. It is ideas and ventures that we as designers should try and go beyond the logic and the norm to create, not to folow blindly.

ii) Do you think you are creative? Why/Not? Please explain in more detail (reflect on your creative process in Sem 1 while going through the Common Foundation courses) to answer this.

I don't think i am creative.
I am more of a logic person, so whatever i can think is usually within the box. During semester 1 i could tell that my works are too much of a square and not creative enough as compared to other works that i've seen.

iii) What were the last 3 creative things you did? Describe in some detail, and provide criteria why it was creative. If you have not done anything creative recently, please say more about why that is so.

I tried capturing some photos differently, i drew alot of weird looking things and i tried putting alot of colours onto my wall.
I was trying out how photos would look like without guides and stuffs and of course, some failed and some looked alright.
I drew weird combinations of things together, making something looking like monster; alien; whatever you may call it. Unidentified?
My wall is red, so i can't hang too many colours, so i put up alot of postcards and i tried to hang something i wrote or drew. Overall, it looked terrible. But who cares? I'm the only one who'll be looking at it anyway.

iv) Do you think Creativity can be taught/and learned? Why/Not?

Creativity be taught? I think it's not impossible but rather it is HARD. If psychologically, we are able to absorb everything we are taught in 100%, then the answer would be yes. But likewise, there is absolutely no way that people can learn art without experience. Without hard work nor failures, there's no success or harvest. I think, if we want to "learn" to be creative, the only way to do is to expose ourselves to more things and to venture into things we've never done before and hence, we could do something no one ever did before. Isn't that being creative to be bold?

v) What is your general gameplan for improving your Creativity? Please explain some possible goals and directions you have in mind. How can this class help you specifically.

Gameplan? I don't really have one. But i think looking at more of others works and also pay attention to more things would be good. My goal is to graduate at least with 3.5GPA and i hope to further to degree. I think in the class, motivation and help is quite important because if there is no motivation, there will be no dreams and if you are always alone without help, you will not improve no matter how good you are as you don't communicate and you don't ask for opinions.
